Thinning is the selective pruning of a tree, whereby a certain percentage of the branches are removed, leaving the same general distribution of branches, and the same natural shape of the crown, only allowing more air to circulate and more light to penetrate through the branches and leaves. This, also, can also be done merely for aesthetic purposes. This is best performed in winter or in early spring. |
